Rekha Bissumbhar holds an Executive MBA from IMD Business School in Switzerland, a Master's degree in Management & Accounting with a specialization in Risk Management from the Maastricht School of Management, a Postgraduate in Petroleum Technology from Delft University of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Geology from Anton de Kom University of Suriname.

Rekha joined Staatsolie in 1999 as a Geologist and has built a career spanning exploration, production and asset management. She has held roles including Production Manager, Exploration Manager, Exploration & Development Asset Manager, Production Asset Manager and Deputy Director Onshore Upstream, before being appointed Director Upstream in December 2020. She serves on the UJV Boards of the Gold Partnerships with Newmont and Zijin, and is past Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of GOw2 N.V. Beyond Staatsolie, she serves as President of the Suriname Trade & Industry Association, board member of the Association of Petroleum Enterprises of Latin America and member of SPE and AAPG.
