Background Information

Through Staatsolie’s Helping Hands programme, employees from Utility & Building Maintenance Upstream supported Stichting Weid Mijn Lammeren in the district of Wanica. The team refreshed the foundation’s frequently used community centre, giving the space a renewed and more inviting appearance. Their work helped improve a location that plays an important role in the surrounding community.

The community centre supports vulnerable groups and is used by more than 800 people each year for training, children’s activities, social guidance and other community projects. Its impact reaches beyond direct participants, also benefiting families and the wider neighbourhood. The centre offers single mothers opportunities to learn new skills and become more economically independent, while children can use the space as a safe environment for learning and development.

The Helping Hands team contributed new tables, chairs and air conditioners, renewed the sinks and gave the space a fresh coat of paint. These improvements help the community centre continue its important role as a supportive, functional and welcoming place. The project shows how Staatsolie employees can use their practical skills and teamwork to strengthen community facilities and support people who benefit from accessible social programmes.
