Staatsolie Organizes Holiday Camp for Children of Tout Lui Faut
Staatsolie organized a holiday camp in Tout Lui Faut.
Staatsolie organized a holiday camp in Tout Lui Faut together with teachers from surrounding schools from 19 to 21 September. This activity is set up for children from 4 to 15 years old from the refinery area. The goal was to keep children from the neighborhood busy for a few days during the holidays with sports and games.
Teachers from the area, who had signed up as supervisors, helped with the planning and organization of the event. The Suriname Fire Department has also contributed to the program with information and a demonstration. On the last day of the camp, forty employees of the Staatsolie refinery and Staatsolie Power Company Suriname participated in the activities. They were active as a guide and even participated in competitions against the children.
Staatsolie believes it is important that children are kept busy in an educational and sporting way. The camp an initiative that has been set up together with the neighborhood and is also implemented together. In this way Staatsolie and the local community demonstrate their willingness to work together on the development of the young people of the area. The camp took place on the site of the sports association BKV on the Tout Lui Faut Kanaalmiddenweg . The sports club and the mandir that are on the same site have contributed by making the facilities available.
It is the second consecutive year that Staatsolie organizes the holiday camp. Between 200 and 300 children participated this year and 22 teachers were involved. Staatsolie is planning to turn this event into an annual activity.
