Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname N.V. (Staatsolie) plans to conduct a seismic survey in the Shallow Offshore area. This area, covering approximately 2,000 km², is located off the coast of Saramacca and Coronie at a water depth of 20 to 50 meters. The purpose of this survey is to collect data for the assessment of potential oil and gas reserves. The survey is scheduled to start in mid-October and will continue until mid-December 2025.

In accordance with the guidelines of the National Environmental Authority (NMA), an Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) will be prepared and implemented prior to this project. Staatsolie has appointed the consulting and advisory firm ILACO Suriname N.V. for this purpose.
